Biographical / Historical
The Bendix Radio Division started in Baltimore in 1937 in a General Motors plant at 920 E. Fort Avenue a short distance from the Baltimore Museum of Industry at 1415 Key Highway. In 1942 the principle operations were relocated to a new facility at 1300 E. Joppa Road, Towson, MD. where the division continued operations for over five decades. In 1982 Bendix was acquired by the Allied Corporation and on April 1, 1985 the Bendix name, so loved as family by many, disappeared but the happy Bendix memories remained. In 1986 the Allied Corporation acquired Signal operations and became AlliedSignal Inc. In 1998 the division was sold to the Raytheon Company. When former employees are asked where they worked, they proudly respond: "I Worked for Bendix Radio - It was a Great Place to Work!”
