Description
Construction of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. This 17.5 mile bridge-tunnel across the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay connects the Eastern Shore of Maryland with the Virginia mainland near Norfolk. The $200,000,000 facility eliminates the last water barrier on the Ocean Highway between New York and Jacksonville, Florida.
